What Information Do We Collect from You?

When you apply for membership, we ask for your place of employment, your contact information, and any other information that helps us represent you and other healthcare professionals for collective bargaining and professional advocacy purposes.

When you respond to our advertisements, we may ask for your name, phone number, email address, job title, and the name of the company where you are employed.

The social media service through which you connected with our advertisements may collect other information about you for its own purposes. We are not responsible for the data privacy policies of these third-party businesses. If you have any concerns about the social media service’s use of your information, you should consult the social media service’s relevant data privacy policy.

How Do We Use Your Information?

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is a labor union that advocates on behalf of Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals in the state of Michigan. We use your information exclusively for these ends, unless otherwise required by law or regulation.

We may use your information:

  • To communicate with you regarding issues and events that may be of interest to you as a Registered Nurse or healthcare professional.
  • To communicate with you regarding your rights in the workplace.
  • To communicate with you regarding collective bargaining and other representation matters at your place of employment.
  • To communicate with you regarding your interest in forming a union at your workplace.
  • For internal research.
  • To comply with laws and regulations.

To What Extent Do We Share Information with Third Parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personal information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law or regulations, to enforce our site policies, to protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.

What Are Our Storage and Security Practices?

All our data is stored on secure servers and accessed through an encrypted virtual private network. We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security controls designed to protect the security and privacy of any personal information we process.

All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.

What Are Your Rights?

You may request to correct, update, or delete the information you have provided by emailing us at minurses@minurses.org with the information necessary for us to process your request. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

If you are receiving text messages from us and wish to stop receiving them, simply respond with either “STOP” or “UNSUBSCRIBE” to the number from which you received the message. Once we receive your message, you will no longer receive further text messages from us.
